Shooting a first person pov video was a fun idea, but has it's own challenges that are very different from our usual content.we always have extra footage and shots we usually end up scrapping in our edits, but this time we had 2 cameras rolling (our usual a & b cameras) that we didn't end up using at all for the full pov experience release, as we wanted to make that into something that would feel as immersive as possible from beginning to end.we decided to make this video because the shots we did setup originally as backups made for a very interesting perspective all on their own, and for some parts they probably made for a more interesting if less immersive view.for the first scene kora and jade are mostly sitting on a bench, watching each other get stripped down, processed, and changed into the solid orange jumpsuits. the first camera sits under the bench focused on the hands cuffed behind the back, the feet, and shackles on the inmates. the other camera is also sitting behind the prisoners, but films and over the shoulder perspective. the idea was something like a video game 3rd person perspective following jade while she's at the bench.you'll notice some things about this video that differ from our usual style and standards. for one, you are going to see a bit of filming equipment, most noticeably a body worn mic pack on jade when she is strip searched. jade is also wearing some oversized googles, that's the pov camera itself, and we sometimes see the tips of a lighting fixture, or even a lens in some shots. remember, this is technically a video of cut content, we hadn't really set these shots up to be the main content. they were only planned to be used for a few moments if the pov malfunctioned during the scene, which was mostly run entirely uninterrupted like an improvised theatre performance.jade is never featured with full face, nor full nude, but does appear topless in just underwear during her strip search. we do the squat and cough with underwear, and yes, it looks pretty silly. so does some of the ways she has to posture herself, or how i pull her feet way up into the air so she can see them with the pov shot. if you decide to see the full pov version of this (or already have), you'll see what this actually resulted in at those moments.when we get to the cell, the backup shots really start feeling more like backup shots, so for that section we included the final pov version picture-in-picture style in the lower right. the intake scene is a lot more like a shot we would use for one of our other videos, but when filming in the cell we wanted to make sure the camera's weren't visible when seeing out the bars. that of course means we had to compromise a good backup shot for the glasses.i would call this video overall something between bts and a full production. it's the same length and covers all the same action as the main release that it pairs with. in fact i think some people are going to prefer this over the pov. either way i think there's something in here that you're going to enjoy, so please check it out and as always feel free to reach out and tell us if you did or even if you didn't!
